Private Parties

Bearsville is a special space, born in the 1960’s as a Utopian setting where artists could live, create,perform, and celebrate music. Albert Grossman, manager of some of the most famous names inthe music industry (think Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin), created Bearsville to nurture his artists. Theordinary pleasures of life were also taken care of with landscaped gardens, world class restaurants,and performance stages to suit every event.

Fast forward to now — if you are organizing a private event, a wedding, a bar or bat mitzvah, or any other kind ofcelebration, Bearsville offers an ideal place to party. Our management team will work with you to create an exceptional, truly memorable party any time of the year.

Enjoy live music, fine wines, unique cocktails, and craft beers. Full catering service is available by The Bear Café, our sister enterprise located next door to the Theater. They can provide everything from passed canapes to simple meals and to-scale dinners, leaving you free to enjoy your guests and the special occasion.

Rehearsals and Recordings

Created as world-class rehearsal and recording studios, Bearsville boasts two top-quality sound stages,both with extensive recording capabilities.

The Bearsville Theater, with strong acoustics, ornate decoration and good ‘bones’ is regularly used by national and international musicians to rehearse or prepare for a tour, often with a public performance to trial new materials before heading out.

The high-ceilinged Utopia Sound Stage was built in the 1980’s for Todd Rundgren’s pioneering music video work. It was created as a perfect black box for audio recording, photography, and videography work. Today, the Flymax Recording Studio operates the Sound Stage and adjacent iso rooms and control booth. Managed by renowned sound engineer Pete Caigan, the Utopia Sound Stage is available to all artists visiting Bearsville.

Flymax Recording Studio

Flymax Recording Studio, operated by multi-platinum studio and live engineer Pete Caigan, is launching at the iconic Utopia Complex on the Bearsville property in Woodstock, NY Offering cutting-edge facilities for music and film production, boasting a spacious live room, full lighting grid, and an API AXS Legacy Recording Console, the studio is equipped with everything artists and producers need to create their next masterpiece.

A multi million-dollar renovation of the property was completed in 2022. Today, Bearsville is renowned both for its leadership in the world of music, and for hosting spectacular and unique events.
